                Natural Building

Wolfson Earthen Artisans
produce and utilize all natural sculpting and finishing products that transform interior spaces into reflections of the inhabitants’ lives, hopes, and needs. Artisans arrange natural ingredients into vibrant fixtures of form, color, and texture that are each entirely unique in design and function.

Wolfson Earthen Paints and Plasters
are custom made with local, unprocessed, naturally abundant materials. Our wall finishes do not emit VOCs found in conventional paints, glues, and plasters. Clay has outstanding thermal and vapor-diffusion capacities, absorbs odors and, because it “breathes,” contributes to a healthy indoor atmosphere. Warm in winter and cool in summer, clay based plasters also provide acoustic insulation, sculptural dynamism, and the potential of mixed-media walls.

Natural Building Workshops
Educational and experiential workshops and seminars on Natural Building help re-introduce traditional building techniques to the Chicago community. Please feel free to contact us about leading a workshop for your organization, community, or family.

                                            Textile Art

Natural Dyes
Artisan Anna Wolfson collects local, natural dye goods with which she alters pure natural textiles. Classes in dying all natural fabrics with natural dyes will be offered at the Sew-Op Pilsen location in April, 2007. Naturally dyed scarves and kerchiefs are available at Allyu Spa.

Shibori and Indigo
Anna is also practiced in the Japanese art of Shibori, fine binding resist techniques specific for oxidizing dyes, like Indigo. She maintains an indigo culture, another natural, breathing, art supply whose behaviour greatly informs the art work. Classes in dying with indigo will be offered at the Sew-Op Pilsen location in June 2007.
